  1. Martini recipe (from http://www.cdkitchen.com):
    At least 2 days before serving: Combine 2 cups of granulated sugar and 1 cup of filtered water in a saucepan over medium heat; stir and bring to a boil. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture is slightly thickened (about 5 minutes). Remove the pan from the heat. Stir in 2 cups of fresh cranberries (they'll pop and cook in the hot liquid). Set aside at room temp for 2 hours. In a large bowl, combine the cranberry mixture and a fifth of vodka. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 days, stirring occasionally.
    Strain the vodka into a pitcher, reserving the cranberries, and refrigerate until ready to serve. To serve, fill chilled martini glasses with the vodka, add a few cranberries to each glass, and garnish with a nice green lime wedge.
    PS – the rest of the cranberries make a yummy sweet snack!
